The Labii Sketch widget, powered by react-sketch, provides a versatile canvas within Labii’s Electronic Lab Notebook for capturing ideas and visualizing concepts. Users can freely draw, create shapes, highlight areas, and even modify existing images directly in their records. Whether sketching experimental designs, illustrating workflows, marking observations, or adding quick visual notes, this widget offers an intuitive and flexible tool to enhance scientific documentation and communication—all without leaving the Labii platform.
Use Cases
Brainstorming experimental designs – Quickly sketch workflows, equipment setups, or experimental layouts.

Settings
The widget works without any settings required.
Interface
The Sketch widget interface consists of several essential components, designed to enhance user interaction and creativity. At the top, you'll find the menu bar, which provides access to various functionalities and settings that empower you to customize your sketching experience. Below the menu bar lies the drawing area, where you can freely create and bring your artistic ideas to life using the available tools and features. Additionally, the interface includes a convenient drag-and-drop area specifically designed for loading pictures effortlessly. This feature allows you to seamlessly integrate external images into your work, facilitating a more versatile and dynamic creative process. With these features combined, the Sketch widget offers a comprehensive and user-friendly platform for artistic expression.

Undo - cancel one step
Redo - redo one step
Open - open a image
Download - download the image
Tool - drawing tools
Pencil - drawing pencil
Line - draw lines
Rectangle - create rectangles
Circle - create circles
Select - disables drawing and gives you the ability to modify existing elements in the canvas
Pan - disables drawing and gives you the ability to move the complete canvas at will, useful to adjust the canvas when zooming in or out
Line width - change line width. Labii provides the options of 1px to 24 px.
Line color - change the line color
Fill color - change the fill color of a shape
Background color - change the curve background
Text - insert text into the canvas
Copy - copy the existing shape
Paste - paste the copied shape
Undo - undo the previous step
Zoom in
Zoom out
Resize - resize the canvas.
Default to 100% in width, 610px in height.
When width=100%, changing the screen size will change the shape of the drawing. To keep the shape of the drawing, use the resize function to save an absolute value of the width.
Delete - delete the selected shapes
Clear - clear all data
